1. Qustodio Web Filtering — Blocks phishing websites, gambling sites, adult content, and scam pages automatically. Works inside Safari and Google Chrome on iPhone and iPad. Caregivers can customize which website categories to allow or block. No action needed from your parent after setup.
2. App Blocking & Monitoring — Qustodio can detect and manage over 27,000 iOS apps. You can block risky or inappropriate apps, set time limits on specific apps, and receive alerts whenever a new app is downloaded. This helps prevent your parent from accidentally installing fake “tech support” or “security” apps that scammers use.
3. Real-Time Alerts for Caregivers — Receive daily and weekly activity reports by email or through the Qustodio Parents App on your own iPhone. Get instant alerts when a blocked website is visited or a suspicious app is opened. You can monitor from anywhere — no need to physically be near your parent’s device.
4. Location Tracking (Optional) — Qustodio’s Family Locator feature lets caregivers see where a parent’s iPad or iPhone is on a map. You can save favorite places (like home, doctor’s office, or pharmacy) and get alerts when your parent arrives or leaves. Helpful for families managing early-stage memory concerns.
5. Safe Search Enforcement — Forces Google, Bing, and YouTube into “restricted mode,” filtering out inappropriate or misleading results. This is especially important because many scam websites are designed to rank high in search results and trick older adults into clicking.

Important: Qustodio Does Not Work on Apple Watch
Qustodio is designed for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, Android, Kindle, and Chromebook. It is not currently compatible with Apple Watch (including Apple Watch Ultra). If your parent uses an Apple Watch for basic tasks, web filtering and app blocking through Qustodio on their paired iPhone will still help protect their overall digital ecosystem. However, Apple Watch apps and browsing are not directly monitored by Qustodio at this time. Check current manufacturer specifications for the latest compatibility updates.
Quick Setup Guides
Ask a caregiver, family member, or tech-savvy friend to help with installation. Once set up, everything runs automatically but still requires spot checks by caregivers once in a while.
Step 1: Set Up the Qustodio Parents App (Your iPhone)
1. Download the free Qustodio Parental Control App from the App Store on your own iPhone.
2. Open the app and tap “Get Started” to create your parent account with your email and a strong password.
3. Tap “Confirm” that this device is your own (the caregiver’s phone).
4. Go into Settings within the app and toggle on “Protect the Parents App” so it requires Face ID or a passcode after 30 seconds of inactivity.
Step 2: Install Qustodio on Your Parent’s iPad or iPhone
Qustodio requires iOS 15 or later. Check: Settings → General → About → Software Version.
1. On your parent’s iPad or iPhone, open the App Store and search for “Kids App Qustodio.”
2. Download and install the app.
3. Open the app and log in with your parent account (the one you created on your own phone).
4. Tap “Protect this device.” Enter a name for the device (e.g., “Mom’s iPad”) and tap Next.
5. Enter your parent’s name, select a year of birth, and choose an avatar.
6. Tap “Let’s do it!” and then tap “Allow” when prompted for permissions.
7. Tap “Download now” to install the Qustodio configuration profile. When Safari opens, tap “Allow.”
8. Close the popup, then tap “Go to Settings.” In Settings, tap “Profile Downloaded.”
9. Tap “Install” in the top-right corner. Enter your parent’s device passcode if prompted.
10. When asked to “Manage,” tap Manage and select “Allow.” Then allow location access by choosing “Always Allow.”
That’s it! The device is now protected. You can close the Kids App on your parent’s device and manage all settings remotely from your own Qustodio Parents App or by logging into family.qustodio.com from any browser.
Step 3: Configure Protection Rules (From Your Phone)
1. Open the Qustodio Parents App on your iPhone or go to family.qustodio.com.
2. Select your parent’s profile.
3. Web Filtering: Go to Rules → Web Filtering. Block categories like Gambling, Malware, Phishing, Adult Content, and Weapons. Allow categories like News, Health, and Shopping.
4. App Rules: Go to Rules → Games & Apps. Turn the feature on. Block any apps you don’t recognize or that your parent doesn’t need. Set time limits on social media if desired.
5. Safe Search: Turn on “Enforce Safe Search” so Google, Bing, and YouTube filter out inappropriate results.
6. Location: Go to Rules → Location. Turn on the Family Locator. Save key places like “Home” and “Doctor.”
7. Notifications: Go to your Notifications settings. Turn on alerts for blocked websites, new app downloads, and daily/weekly activity reports.
Things to Consider
• Qustodio for iOS works inside Safari and Google Chrome only. Make sure Safari is set as the default browser on your parent’s device.
• Some advanced features (like call/text monitoring on iOS) require a Mac or Windows computer for initial setup via a USB cable.
• The free plan protects only one device with basic features. For full protection on multiple devices, consider the Basic ($54.95/year for 5 devices) or Complete plan (unlimited devices). Check Qustodio.com for current pricing.
• Qustodio offers a 30-day free trial of Premium features — no credit card required — and a 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans.
• Qustodio does not currently support Apple Watch, including Apple Watch Ultra.
• Strong Wi-Fi on your parent’s device is essential for real-time alerts and filtering to work properly.
• For best protection, keep your parent’s iPhone or iPad updated to the latest iOS version.
