The Easy Way to Do Maui and Lanai With Kids and Grandparents

A quiet beach moment from our Hawaii trip. Photo supplied by the author.

Two Hawaiian islands can look like one simple beach vacation. The transfers take planning. Our family of five paired Lanai with a long stay in Wailea, leaving room for slow mornings and time together.

Sleep near Maui’s airport first, spend four nights on Lanai, then return to Wailea. Plan one outing a day. Confirm every traveler’s room occupancy, flight assistance and transfer needs before booking.

What Most Families Miss

A resort’s accessible-room label does not describe every bathroom or route. Ask Grand Wailea or Four Seasons Maui about the exact shower, walking distances and pool access you need.

Maui County requires mineral sunscreen unless prescribed otherwise. Check active ingredients for zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. NOAA recommends staying at least 10 feet from sea turtles, on land and in water.
