How to play Bridge

• Seats: you are South. North (top) is your partner. East/West are the computer opponents.
• The auction: players take turns bidding how many tricks (beyond 6) their side will take and in what trump suit — or No Trump. Each bid must be higher than the last. Pass if you don't want to bid. Three passes in a row end the auction.
• Contract: the final bid. The first partner who named that suit becomes declarer; their partner's hand becomes the dummy, laid face-up for all to see. You play both your hand and dummy when you're declarer.
• Points to remember: Ace=4, King=3, Queen=2, Jack=1. About 25+ combined points usually makes a game (3NT, 4♥/4♠, or 5♣/5♦).
• Play: follow the suit led if you can. Highest card of the led suit wins — unless someone plays a trump. The winner leads the next trick.
• Scoring: make your contract for points (game bonuses for 100+). Go down and the other side scores. First side to 100 points below the line... we keep it simple: highest running score.
